Incessant rains for the law few days, caused
by monsoon depression in the Bay of Bengal,
triggered flood and landslides in different
southeast districts of the country, including
Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachhari,
Laxmipur and Noakhali, leaving five people
dead, reports UNB. Met Office sources said
the highest 64 mm rains were recorded in
Maizdi court area of Noakhali district during
the last nine hours till 3pm today. The Met
Office, meanwhile, forecast that heavy to very
heavy rainfall is likely at places in Khulna,
Barisal and Chittagong over the next 24 hours.
Due it very heavy rainfall landslide may occur
at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong
division, it said.
